KnifeMarket is a marketplace, so we do not interfere with the buying process. You buy directly from the seller. We do not charge any fees when purchasing a knife from our platform.
Every knife has a "Contact Seller" button on the product page where you will find contact details of the seller/maker. You will also find all the acceptable payment methods a particular seller offers.
KnifeMarket is owned and managed by SharpEdge, so you will also find some knives from SharpEdge on KnifeMarket. Those knives that we cannot sell in our online store (e.g. knife samples, knives with imperfections (scratches, no handle, etc)). Such knives can be bought directly from SharpEdge without contacting us. Simply add the knife to the cart and finalize the purchase with our supported payment options (credit cards, PayPal, bank transfer, BitPay).
Buying a good used knife is a way to get your hands on a quality knife that you might not be able to afford otherwise. But that didn't really answer your question, right?
In short - no, you shouldn't be worried. Used knives on KnifeMarket are only from respected and known blacksmiths, so no bullshit here. Every seller and new product listed on KnifeMarket is screened and approved (or rejected) by Ziga, our professional knife sharpener. Ziga sees and inspects a lot of knives on a daily basis, so he knows where to look for any weak spots.
Sellers need to adhere to our product guidelines, so any imperfections need to be noted in the product description and photographed (scratches, rust spots, chips, dirty handles, etc). Your new used knife might need a new sharpening session and then it should be ready for some serious chopping & slicing & dicing.
Quality knife is a tool that can be used for many years, especially if maintained regularly. Due to its simple design, there aren't many things that can go wrong. Still, is common-sense caution is expected when buying something used, so if you have any doubts, contact the seller for additional clarifications and photos. You can also contact us and we'll address your concerns.

Good deals are the first to go, so make sure to follow us to get the first glance of the new stuff!
You can find contact details of the seller on the bottom of every product page.
Sellers can usually be contacted via email, phone and/or their social media.
Your contract partner is always the respective seller. Make sure you agree with the seller on the terms of the payment, delivery and potential return of the knife/product. We inspect and confirm every seller and their product(s) before they are listed on KnifeMarket - as most folks, we also don't like scammers and fraudsters. We want to make and keep the platform as secure as possible.
If you require any help with the buying procedure or run into any issues, please get in touch with us.
Buying a knife online can be tough. Sometimes we simply don't like the product when we get it in our hands, it doesn't fit well in our hand, it's too heavy, doesn't look as good as it does on the photos. That's completely understandable.
KnifeMarket is not your usual online shop, it's a platform where sellers and buyers meet to make independent transactions. That makes returns not as straightforward as with your regular shop. This doesn't mean you should be worried! We screen every seller and carefully inspect their knives before they are listed on KnifeMarket.
The best way is to ask the seller for their "return policy" before you make the purchase. Since you will interact directly with the seller to purchase their knife, it's always good to ask that beforehand. If a seller doesn't offer an option for a return and refund, that might be a red flag. We promote fair play and win-win situations, so we urge all sellers to play nice and offer returns and refunds as seamless as possible. Use shipping providers with tracking numbers, that makes returns more transparent and easy to follow.
If you run into any issues when returning and/or receiving a refund, contact us immediately. We will try our best to get your money back, and we will ban the seller from the platform for any foul-play.
KnifeMarket is run and managed by the team of SharpEdge, a Japanese kitchen knife shop.
We are in the knife business for over 10 years with a focus on Japanese-made kitchen knives. KnifeMarket is our next chapter. We want to bring knife fans together in an online marketplace for all kinds of knives and knife-related products. Japanese or not, all knives are welcome!
KnifeMarket is a platform where new knife makers can showcase their work and start selling their knives. A platform where professional chefs and knife aficionados can sell their used knives so they can get some extra money for that new gyuto from Saji that they simply *have* to have. A platform where you can find your new knife.
KnifeMarket is for those that need a quality knife, but they might not have the budget for a new one. For those that want a custom knife from a small blacksmith. For knife collectors that are having a hard time finding their next top-shelf knife. For those that have too many pockets in their trousers and not enough EDC knives to fill them up. For all who need a new knife.
